For excitement? That is highly debatable and not even close to being the consensus.
Nothing, I repeat nothing, is more exciting than politics
In addition to that, Washington has everything that the other cities on this list have (with much better paddling).
I’m not trying to make the case for Washington but it is every bit as exciting as these other places. It may be a bit stuffier but people with an intelectual curiosity will find its offerings much more exciting than these other places..

It's subjective. I'm every bit the bookworm and always have been and while it's easy enough to find all kinds of stuff to do in DC, it's not the first city that comes to mind when I think "exciting" and "entertaining," even among (other) Southern cities. But the good thing is that whatever "exciting" or "entertaining" component it might lack can usually be found within easy driving distance.
I guess this depends on the demographic of who is responding. How in the world is Nashville leading DC, Dallas, Austin, and Houston? It makes no sense.

As with all of these "Southern" polls, some cities' Southernness is in question and that would include all the Texas cities and, of course, DC. That explains poll results in several cases and is probably the case here to an extent.

While I maybe in the minority about DC, how can anyone question the southerness of Texas cities? Yeah, there is a unique Texas twist but it's still all Dixie in Houston and Dallas. Maybe Austin/San Antonio can be excluded, maybe.
I would think Miami is the biggest outlier though. In terms of similarities with other cities in the South - Miami has basically nothing. Even DC has more.

Everything you've stated has been debated ad nauseam on this forum.

To say Miami has nothing in common with other Southern cities is downright laughable.
