Birmingham's gentrification process began with Five Points and the Highland Park neighborhood, and has since radiated eastward and northward towards downtown. There are some really impressive neighborhoods there ie Druid Hills, Fountain Heights and Norwood that are ripe for it.

Of course not but it's the most damaging, the most expensive, and the most blatant. Plenty of NYC plates and tons of stupid little shops that locals can't afford, or organic kelp tea that locals would gawk at compared to that guy from Brooklyn. Next up: Tremé.

All of the cities listed have something to offer.. With that said, I don't think its a fair contest to include powerhouse cities like Atlanta and Miami on this list..
