Which desert landscape do you find more pleasing to the eye? The mojave desert or sonoran desert? Both seem to be very similar yet each have their own unique aspect.

California has: The Coachella Valley, Victor Valley, Anza Borrego, Imperial Valley

Arizona has: The Yuma Basin, Phoenix Valley, the enormous Tucson mountain ranges, Prescott Valley, and of course the famous Grand Canyon.

Where's the "Can't decide, all deserts are ugly" option?

If you can’t find even the slightest beauty in any desert than that’s sad and your problem. No one’s making you live in one.

Although I am a big fan of Joshua Tree and Death Valley and an all around homer for my state, Arizona’s Sonoran deserts are definitely more scenic to my eyes. Especially in winter and spring, the deserts in Arizona are a stunning vista to take in.

I tend to agree.

But most TV commercials (and even movies) are filmed in the California Mojave Desert.
You’ll notice the tell tale Joshua trees in the background.
It’s close to LA and easy to shoot there, too bad really, I’d like to see more
filmed in Arizona’s Sonoran Desert and New Mexico’s Chihuahuan desert.

I prefer Saguaros over Joshua Trees. Arizona also has red rock country and the Colorado Plateau with a cornucopia of more colorful desert landscapes. Both are nice, but I just find Arizona and the Sonoran desert to be more scenic than the Mojave, I especially love AZ sunsets.

Arizona. Easy on the eyes with more flora and interesting landscapes especially in the the central Sonoran Desert. The Mojave is plain boring imo.

I’m surprised at how everybody voted for Arizona (I was the 1 who voted California)

Are we all just voting for the underdog here and feeling bad for Arizona not having an ocean so we’re choosing out of guilt? I mean CA’s desert isn’t bad at all. I’d post pictures if I could. We got sand domes that look straight out of the Middle East. CA’s desert mountains are also much taller exceeding 10,000 ft+.

I'm a native San Diegan but graduated high school in Paradise Valley, AZ. I am also not a big enviro nut. That said, I really, really do like AZ's natural landscape. Unfortunately there is quite a bit of smog there, so if we were throwing SLC and LV into the mix, one of them would actually win. CA would be last.
