Boston is made up of mostly two races not diverse. Seattle is made up of lots of races. So people in Seattle are voting for it because it's more cosmopolitan than Boston .

What is the second of Boston’s two races?
The difference between the black and hispanic populations isn’t that huge.

(For reference, the city is about 45% white, 25% black, 20% hispanic, 10% asian)

The two largest groups in Boston, Whites and African Americans are 71% of the city. Montreal and Seattle are both 67% white or so. In terms of racial diversity it's not even close, Boston is the winner.
