I agree that walking is not ideal for getting between neighborhoods in Seattle. It’s why I voted for Portland.
I agree that "Skid Row" was derived from Seattle's "Skid Road". My question is whether the former term also originated in Seattle or was re-imported back to Seattle from other places. One theory I've read is that the terminological shift took place in Chicago, from which it was spread by hoboes riding the rails.

If the "skid row" term spread from Seattle, it could have been via the Pantages vaudeville circuit, which was based in Seattle.
