There wasn't much of an analysis of Orlando at all in that post.
Orlando will lose due to stereotypes for the most part. The two metros aren't that much different, with Orlando having a significantly busier core, and Tampa/St-Pete having more water access... Although beaches for the most part are still only a weekend destination.

Great observation, examination...however you want to define it...either way, I agree with the post. 😎
When I went to Orlando (never lived there btw) but it struck me as nicer than what the media may have you believe it was. I never felt a bad vibe.
Well, duh...of course. You no doubt stayed in a hotel and would eat out at restaurants so what other type of treatment were you expecting? Living here in the Orlando area (which I do) is another matter and it's nothing like the vacationland experience people are actually dumb enough to move here for, thinking it'll be duplicated while living/working.
Born and raised in Florida. Been all over the state. I've visited Orlando many, MANY times. Hung out at Church St. and the downtown area, gone to the museums, been to most of the theme parks, visited friends that live there, and I've just never been impressed with it. At least, not enough to ever want to live there. Mostly hideous sprawl and strip malls. I lived in the Tampa area for a number of years, and it's no contest: the Tampa Bay area rocks. It has it fair share of sprawl too, all of Florida does, but it's more charming and has more interesting areas to explore. I would include Clearwater down to St. Pete. Hell, maybe even down to Sarasota. With so many cities within reach, there is always something interesting to do. Anything that is worth doing in Orlando can be easily accessed for weekend trips.
I'm desperately trying to get out of Florida due to the heat and humidity, but if I was going to stay then it would be somewhere in the greater Tampa Bay area.

Orlando does not have a *significantly* busier core than Tampa. I would say it's slightly busier due to tourism.
