Neighborhoods excluded .. .. which is your favorite road? I like both of them.

Both roads have similarities in the aspect that they begin just outside of the urban core and travel to heavily affluent suburbia

Both roads were shoehorned through the high-end wealthy districts just outside the core such as Buckhead and Highland Park / University Park.

GA-400 is more unique in the aspect that its intown section is also accompanied by MARTA rail and tunnels through Downtown Buckhead.

DNT also was somewhat creative in that aspect that its intown areas were shoehorned into an old abandoned railroad and uses dipping underpasses to avoid ghastly overpasses through an affluent area.

GA-400 is getting a new interchange @ I-285 // DNT interchange @ I-635 is massively outdated and needs to be converted into a stack although improbable at this point.

DNT has great night lighting and uses classy street lamp posts - something I wish they would implement on GA-400.

GA-400 has better naturistic scenery as its route is through the hilly forested areas of N.Atlanta Metro

DNT between I-635 and PGBT has some pretty wild curves as it carves its way through the towers of N.Corporate Dallas Metro.

DNT uses the standard TX frontage-road system and does incorporate stacks for both PGBT and SRBT

I-285 is the last freeway connection GA-400 meets

GA-400 has a much better rural suburban conversion than DNT. DNT seems like a urban freeway for much of its length but it pretty much just 'ends' into nothing at its current northern terminus in Frisco. GA-400 on the other hand enters a more sparsely populated county and continues its freeway section until becoming a grade-level road into N.Georgia.

For me:
DNT is a more fun road to drive on if you're an auto enthusiast because it has tighter curves and sweeps through more corporate towers and carries a very urban feeling through it. GA-400 however is also very upscale and carries better scenic views, curves are more gradual, and caries more pleasing forestry scenery through its length, is more subtle and also the flow of traffic is more predictable. GA-400 also has more lanes overall.

Since we're excluding neighborhoods and talking about these specific roadways, definitely GA 400. It's toll-free and is simply a much prettier drive, bar none.

Where the DNT corridor comes out on top over the GA-400 corridor overall is that its secondary road network is much more functional.

GA-400 has the MARTA line running parallel to it for a good stretch. I like the way 400 combines urban pulse and and southern woodlands, it's unique Atlanta. Then 400 collides into a mega merge with a wide freeway canyon through the core with I 75/85. Impressive in size and scope with excellent skyline views, but a logistical hot mess.

Have never been on the DNT, but was impressed with the US 75 Central Expressway and all the flyover ramps snaking all over I-35E.

DNT is really neat in the older section in Dallas with the live oak trees hanging over the roadway and the way it dips under the over passes. It definitely has more of an urban highway feel and better aesthetics. The North Dallas section is particularly interesting to drive on with the turns and development on both sides for miles.

GA 400 is more of a scenic highway with a very walled in forested vibe.

How old is the N.Dallas section anyway? I've been wondering if those developments were already there and they snaked the tollway through them or if the tollway came first?
