I knew when I said Columbia lacked character you would go all in to defend it lol. It was shallow shade in your response to Augusta being blighted with less prosperity. I see you...we see each other ☺️

Except I didn't go "all in to defend it".. that would involve posting tons of pics, Streetview links, etc. At that point it was clear to me that you weren't really familiar with Columbia to make such a statement. And I was only stating facts when I mentioned the blight and the fact that Augusta is less prosperous. Don't get me wrong, I actually like the place and have fond memories from visiting often to see family as a kid. But being in the same state as a major city that sucks up all the air in the room has its consequences.
Most of the comments are based on opinions and not facts.
How is Augusta less prosperous? The past and present is different.
The GDP is growing faster than Columbia based on 2016-2017.
The employment gain in 2017 was higher than Columbia.
It’s predicted metro Augusta and Gainesville will outperform the state in 2018 and 2019.
Modcut: Atlanta is not part of this thread.
Metro Augusta has a much lower GDP, lower per capita and median household incomes, a higher percentage of the population under the poverty line, etc. than metro Columbia. Those are facts. As a matter of fact, Augusta's per capita and median household income levels are below the state average while the poverty level is above the state average; Columbia's per capita and median household income levels are above the state average while the poverty level is lower than the state average. Also one year doesn't constitute a trend in terms of GDP growth either. In 2012 Columbia's GDP was larger than Augusta's by $12.4B; by 2017, that gap had grown to $16.5B (source). The truth of the matter is that Augusta is falling further behind Columbia over time. Maybe that will change as the cybersecurity sector in Augusta really begins ramping up but as of now, this is where things stand.

I just responded to another poster that his picture was old. Now here you come with another picture from years ago. Why do y’all keep using pics from years ago? That huge Stanley Drive sign for instance doesn’t exist anymore. The Berckman road expansion got rid of it.
As you can see it looks nothing similar to your picture in 2018. That’s a big problem with city data. People who don’t know much about cities get on here and portray they do.

Their in two different states. Georgia outperforms South Carolina in every category. Columbia’s median income is only around $3000 higher.
It’s not just one year. Augusta is outperforming Columbia once again in 2018.
That’s now a three year span 2016-2018. You can bring up 2012, but the fact remains Augusta is doing better recently and presently.

Too bad Georgia's higher performance (which we all know is solely due to its major city) doesn't transfer to Augusta.

We don't have numbers for 2017-2018 yet because 2018 isn't over. Those numbers won't come out for several months. So no, it's not a three-year span at all, only one year (2016-2017).
Nice try though.
