Augusta merged with the county. Richland County is way more populous than Richmond. That’s like saying Charlotte is larger than Atlanta, Miami and DC. If Columbia merged with Richland its be at 410,000+. The Columbia area is larger than Augusta and visiting the area, anyone could tell that . And looking at the poll, Augusta doesn’t come close to winning against Columbia. Lexington County (second most populated county in Columbia metro), which Columbia extends into has more people than the entire county Augusta is located it in.

Read my post again. I don't need an explanation for something that I basically said but thanks for rewording it.

You’re very welcome. Nothing wrong with adding a little more detail for others, who aren’t familiar.

What are you talking about sweetie? Nothing in my post indicates that I'm not familiar with these two cities...Let's start: Augusta is a larger city...that fact can't be disputed...Columbia is the larger metro...another undisputed fact...Columbia is ahead of Augusta based on most metrics... another undisputed fact...Augusta isn't a slouch...again, another undisputed fact....so what am I'm not familiar with? I'll wait...

This may be true, on paper but now you're opening up a can of worms that's not worth opening and we know what that is.. Columbia is the largest area and winner hands down.. let's stop the madness

I voted for Columbia though. The truth is the truth regardless. Of course, we know which city could be larger if this or that happens or feel larger..simply put, the facts are facts...I didn't create the guidelines to measure city sizes...

Too bad it isn't as easy for cities to consolidate with their counties in SC as it is in GA.

Augusta didn’t merge with the county. It only merged with part of it. The poll is not scientific either. I’m sure 95% of the ppl who voted for Columbia have never visited Augusta, or if they did it was riding along the interstate. The one’s who have visited Augusta was obviously years ago based on the comments.

I think the poll speaks for itself, no matter how many excuses are put forth here. I also think that it's a fairly accurate reflection of reality. Columbia is a city that Augusta should aspire to emulate.
I take no pleasure in saying so, and wish it weren't so. But I think that it's pretty evident that SC is enjoying a greater measure of success on the whole with its mid-sized cities than is GA.

No matter what the poll reveals. The fact remains Augusta is the fastest growing job market in Georgia. It’s doing better economically than Columbia. This not an opinion, but fact. The facts accurately reflect Augusta’s momentum versus Columbia.

There’s nothing in Columbia related to cyber on the level of Augusta. It would be stupid to aspire to emulate a city were the economy is different.

All of the large projects in Augusta revolve around cyber. The Cyber Center, Cyber Command, Augusta Cyberworks, etc.
