Someone made a statement earlier this evening on TV that Toronto is his favorite city and when asked to explain why he said because "Toronto is like New York but a lot cleaner and the people are nicer"

lol. Anyone agree with this?

It’s the biggest city in its country. That’s where it ends. Neighborhoods look nothing alike.

If anything, I’ve seen more similarities in urban form in some parts of Montreal that can be compared to parts of Brooklyn than anything in Toronto.

I found Toronto to be a bit dirtier than expected.

There are large parts of NYC that look very similar to Toronto. Parts of Queens and Old Toronto have very similar looking neighbourhood commercial strips and a mix of various housing vernacular styles and apartment buildings from the same era.

Queens

Old Toronto

It’s an old saying, something I first heard in the 90s and it was probably old then.

It's really not that clean, but keep in mind this is something I hear Canadians claim all the time. Toronto and NYC are not comparable and for sure not on the same level when it comes to vibe, Toronto is comparable to Chicago.

Yes, you're right -- Parts of Queens do remind me of some parts of Toronto.

Come to think of it, I see some resemblances between parts of Toronto and Queens, and parts of Montreal and Brooklyn.

Toronto as a whole is unique. I don't see it resembling any other North American city on any level aside from the Queens similarities with Old Toronto...

Charles Barkley, I saw that. His opinions should always be taken with a grain of salt...

Toronto is a lot smaller. Cleaner? Maybe. Nicer people? Not noticeably. I like them both, but don’t find that to be accurate.
