Charlotte has the best tallest building.

San Diego has the best of the residential-heavy flat-top style.

I'm not enthralled by the bow-of-ship view, taking Pittsburgh down a notch.

Denver is ok but too early-80s.

Austin is pretty good but not number one in any way.
Good assessment

I believe Pittsburgh is incorrect as well. specially factoring in the Oakland neighborhood. Pittsburgh has a nice collection of older skyscrapers and highrises.

At ground level no other city on this list can compare to downtown Pittsburgh. The narrow streets and historic building stock makes the difference.Pittsburgh has generations of skyscrapers as well. Pittsburgh has scrapers from the 1800's through 2000's. The growth of downtown does not mirror the growth of the region. Downtown Pittsburgh (actually the city itself) employs more people than at any time in its history.

I concur about Pittsburgh at ground level.

I am surprised San Diego didn't get more love on C-D. This skyline is definitely in the top 20, imo.

Not really. Kind of average, but San Diego in general is a nice city. I definitely would not rank it above Minneapolis, Pittsburgh, and Charlotte.

This would mean that Charlotte's skyline is more compact so I don't understand how "it lacks other areas to make it more cohesive." Its relative compactness would already make it pretty cohesive, no?

Really? There is nothing special about the San Diego skyline at all in my opinion. If anything it is rather disappointing.

Pittsburgh reigns supreme when it comes to mid-sized cities skylines. There really is no comparison to the natural setting blended with the built form. Honorable mentions to Minneapolis and SD.
