Huntsville is quite a unique area that is not easily matched. It has a pleasant but small downtown for its size that in an economic sense is greatly overshadowed by the Cummings Research Park and Redstone Arsenal. The cost of living to income ratio is excellent and it is easily the safest of Alabama's major cities. I think in addition to Greenville, Raleigh and (not on this poll) Lexington, KY would be somewhat similar places.
Downtown, core: Knoxville, Murfreesboro. Behind Chattanooga and Greenville
Urban: Chattanooga
Suburbs: Greenville, Knoxville, Murfreesboro. Very upscale.
COL/Amenities: Greenville/Lexington. Only Lexington has better shopping.
Walkability: Knoxville. Not as urban as Chattanooga
Economy: Greenville or Lexington. Murfreesboro has the fastest growth.
Weather: Chattanooga
Crime: Greenville
Huntsville is a great city. It is a combination of some of the cities mentioned here.
NW Arkansas should be on the poll. Not really Fayetteville which is a college town, but maybe Rogers or Springdale.
