Nah, NY is ahead of FL and to be honest, NY makes a good for #2 in certain/select economic factors.

As a state,NY just isn't in the big league...

The only world class city is NYC and that's not enough to make it the #2 state....

Texas & Florida have more top tier cities than NYS,

Without NYC,New York state is literally another Virginia Lol

This kind of thread drives me nuts. I don't get how anyone can answer this question, given that the OP has not defined the criteria. Of course, that doesn't stop many from trying to answer, using their own or no criteria! Any state can be the most important, based on varying criteria. Why not just ask What's your favorite state? and leave it at that!
