I’m sorry, Compton? The Orlando Universal and Disney iterations are more visited. Palm Springs is like 100 miles away (are the Pocanos getting added to NYC?). You’ve also left out Brooklyn when discussing NYC. Or the Hamptons. Or, etc, etc.
LA is famous. It’s not as famous as NY. No shame, NY is really in a league almost of it’s own.
They're even, but NYC will always win against LA on here.

Try to make a case for anything Los Angeles and you have first cut through the 98% wrong information/stereotypes, strongly articulate your point with references, and even then you probably still won't get anywhere.
On the other hand, if you want to make a case for NYC, "dude, it's on a whole other level, everybody knows this".....and you're good.

NYC is mostly famous for Manhattan.
LA is mostly famous for the entire region even if it is not in or near LA City like Disneyland.
I agree that LA’s fame moreso than NY comes from what’s outside the city limits. Not sure that’s as much as a strength as you think.
