I’m sorry, Compton? The Orlando Universal and Disney iterations are more visited. Palm Springs is like 100 miles away (are the Pocanos getting added to NYC?). You’ve also left out Brooklyn when discussing NYC. Or the Hamptons. Or, etc, etc.

LA is famous. It’s not as famous as NY. No shame, NY is really in a league almost of it’s own.

It's an NYC worshipping forum.

Try to make a case for anything Los Angeles and you have first cut through the 98% wrong information/stereotypes, strongly articulate your point with references, and even then you probably still won't get anywhere.

On the other hand, if you want to make a case for NYC, "dude, it's on a whole other level, everybody knows this".....and you're good.

Here is something an internet savvy person could do to help settle this contest-

Find out how many articles the New York Times has written about Los Angeles in the last 10 years and compare that to the number of articles the Los Angeles Times has written about New York City in the same time.

Well, for one, it would reveal that one city is obsessed with the other indicating that they might not be as big of a deal as they think they are.

Yes why and what does this accomplish? NY is the most famous city in the USA and that’s nothing for LA or any other city to be insecure about.

NYC is mostly famous for Manhattan.
LA is mostly famous for the entire region even if it is not in or near LA City like Disneyland.

I agree that LA’s fame moreso than NY comes from what’s outside the city limits. Not sure that’s as much as a strength as you think.
