No not even close. SF is far more prosperous and it looks and feels that way in person.
Pockets of affluence does not compare to SF.
Yes those areas are lovely.
But whether citywide or metrowide, they dont beat SF and they definitely do NOT beat the Bay Area as far as livability. Not in my experience.
SF has pockets of influence, and then a couple blocks away, the streets are little with syringes, needles, and human excrement. Please don't even try to deny this. People are losing their homes, as the area is getting too expensive. We read more than your comments, 18Montclair, and it's all over the news. I can link to pics and articles, if you need me to....maybe you don't even bother to take a look at these. Denial is your problem, I guess, because some of us have our eyes wide open.

SF doesn't look "prosperous" at all compared to how expensive the place is, outside of pockets of recent new construction. Visiting the place, most of the city is stuck in 1994 (since there has been virtually no construction/infrastructure improvements in large parts of the city). Did they switch those BART self-service kiosks from 1982 yet? I find it amazing the lack of wifi/touch screens/charging stations in SF... very weird for a "tech" city.

Yawns your eyes are open to something but not reality.

No I live on facts and real consensus, not biased rantings on online message boards.
I'm guessing you don't live in SF, otherwise, you would see it for yourself. I was there last week for 3 days, and saw plenty. I could have avoided these areas, with careful consideration, but wanted to see for myself. You either need new glasses, or you see only what you want to see. Please don't brush this off...the problem is dire, and real.

Haha I work in a very chic district half-a-block from Salesforce Tower and am surrounded by ultra highly skilled, highly educated, upwardly mobile douchebags all day. This is a demographic that is moving here in droves and I dont blame them because SF has the highest number of high paying jobs in the country.

You mean you can avoid those areas?
Exactly.
Oh and I am aware of all of that and far better versed than any out-of-towner on the issues SF faces, but you want that to be all there is to SF and that's absolutely silly.
