I may have overstepped my coining privileges.

However, I do promise you as you being a mod, I will never refer to RI, CT, DE, VT, NH, NJ,and MA as the Seven Northeastern Dwarfs.

It doesn't. And I as OP never suggested it did. I merely am asking is there a difference in the way we use Lake Michigan since it is entirely in the US? There seems to be a lot more connections from one side of Lake Michigan to the other than the four on the border.

The east shore running up the LP of Michigan is prime Chicago vacation country. With a lot of ownership which, I suspect, would not necessarily be the case if it were in a foreign nation. I don't know if the other lakes have one, but there is a designated circle route around Lake Michigan. Meanwhile, the only state or province that is on both sides of a Great Lake is Michigan with Lake Michigan.

I have no idea about ferry service elsewhere, but I would doubt that is anywhere near the number of passengers of Milwaukee to Muskegan

I think of Lake Michigan as the beachy lake with sandy shores, Lake Superior as the rocky shores, harbors, and lighthouses kind of lake. I've only seen the lake shores from Chicago and Cleveland. The Chicago shoreline is stunning, but if I were to plan a Great Lakes vacation I'd probably opt for Superior for something different. I'd like to see the Duluth area, and the rocky cliffs and shores along the UP of Michigan. I'm a hobby photographer and Superior seems to have the best variety of scenic shoreline. If I wanted a day at the beach, then I'd think Lake Michigan, specifically western Michigan would be the go to place.

Aside from Mackinac Island, Huron seems to fly under the radar and most of its attraction looks like it's in Ontario, Canada. Erie, I'm not familiar enough with but from what I understand it's pretty shallow and has a serious blue green algae problem. Lake Ontario, I think of Toronto, otherwise I'm not sure if it's a clean lake or if there are any noteworthy beaches on its shoreline.
