City-Data gives brownie/bonus points for older, walkable, denser cities whereas most Americans actually are moving to places that are newer, non-walkable or only semi-walkable, and less dense. I have yet to see one major U.S. metro area where the core city is growing while the suburbs are in decline. In the best case scenario both the core city AND suburbs are growing (i.e. Denver, Seattle, Atlanta, Austin, Dallas, Houston, etc.) There are many more places like Detroit, Pittsburgh, Buffalo, Cleveland, etc. where the core city is in decline while the suburbs are growing.
