Im pretty sure NJ has 518 townships/boroughs which isn’t too much worse than MA given it has 2 million more people in those 170 extra towns

Difference is they also have stronger counties and the town government style is more likely to be a town/city council and a mayor than a town meeting or selectman.

Edit:

New Jersey is divided into 21 counties and contains 565 municipalities consisting of five types: 254 boroughs, 52 cities, 15 towns, 241 townships, and 3 villages.

But yea it’s a lot.

You have Charlotte in there, but no Seattle?

That's a really weird list.. New Orleans has a very dense in urban form, but I wouldn't say that the skyline (which is what OP says?) is particularly dense by any means. Charlotte has a more dense skyline, but less dense urban form. Seattle is definitely more dense than both in terms of skyline. (Urban form may be close between Seattle and New Orleans).

Yeah, there's nothing about Charlotte's downtown that is denser, larger or more urban than Seattle.

Seattle in the rain (own photo).
