If you don't think that a view of the lake and Grant Park with the backdrop of the Chicago skyline from the Planetarium peninsula is not peaceful or majestic, you have never been to Chicago. It is breathtaking. Louisville is a nice city, but really. To each his own.
Fav Cities; LA, Chicago, Boston, New Orleans
Fav skylines: Chicago, NY, Pittsburgh, Seattle, SF
Well we know that parks give off that affect, Central park is no exception for NY. Over all I just don't get a Nature effect or peaceful feel from either city but hey that's just me. For some reason I have always had a thing for Louisville's Skyline and that's even when I was a kid driving though headed to Chicago late at night, crossing the bridge into Indiana back in the day. The skyline just had that just right feel, it seemed like a city that was not too big or too small with its red blinking tower lights glistening from a distance.
Most overrated...for looks...DENVER! Man, the mountains are as impressive as Mt. Rainer jutting out south of Seattle. It just stands out more majestically though not taller than any near Denver. Also when you look east of Denver, it might as well be KANSAS, no trees, flat. The shopping is mediocre for a metro area of its size.
Mt. Rainier is a full mile taller than anything in Colorado, relative to the city's elevation.

Louisville's skyline is nice. I hope they continue to add more in the future. The Omni is a nice addition.

Favorite skylines:
None. I don't have any. I only like about 6 skylines in the world, only one of them during the day, five of them at night and/or in black and white photos. None of those skylines are in North America. I love vertically built up cities but skylines aren't necessary in that at all. I like cities that are built as a sea of large midrises, highrises, and other vertical structures stretching across the horizon till as far as the eye can see, even if they don't have a defined skyline.
