Syracuse NY: same as Rochester, although switch Adirondacks for Niagara Falls & Letchworth due to distance.
Reno, NV: mountains, Lake Tahoe, desert
Richmond, VA: located on Atlantic seaboard fall line- proximate to estuaries, mountains, rapids, etc.
Port St. Lucie, FL: beaches, river, wetlands, islands
Fort Collins, CO: mountains, prairie/grassland, forest
Savannah, GA, & Charleston, SC: cool estuaries and lowlands. Beaches are just okay for me.
I have limited experience in the smaller coastal Florida towns or Oregon towns, but I'm sure a few could be added. I haven't been to Columbia, SC, but have heard the area is beautiful.
Not listed here (but deserving IMO) is Erie, PA. Similar to Rochester and Syracuse being right on Lake Erie, and being a short drive to some fantastic ski resorts
