Seattle dominated as the prettiest large city with San Francisco as a distant second, but how about their smaller, less-established counterparts? Where would you consider the most beautiful city in the 120-250k population range from a natural beauty standpoint?
P.S. I’m going to try not to include too many suburbs of larger cities in order to avoid redundancy.

Municipal population is pretty misleading here. Salt Lake is part of a much larger city, and Tacoma is really a subset of the Seattle area nowadays.
I have no idea what to vote for. Like probably most of us, I haven't been to the whole list. Though really Tacoma is the same as Seattle, except that Mt. Rainier is 25 miles closer.
I've visited most of the cities listed and I voted for Chattanooga, TN. It's one of the few cities that my husband and I drove through and actually stopped and googled the history of the place, as well as info on the surrounding area. It seems like a particularly beautiful little corner of the US to me, though there are lots and lots of very pretty areas on the list (and also some pretty ugly ones, but I digress).
Some of the coastal cities will be answered by a lot of folks, but I don't consider Charleston to have much in the way of environmental beauty.
Of these, and I don't have much knowledge of the West Coast, I'd probably choose Knoxville or Chattanooga. Reasonable access to mountain with city amenities, but Asheville and Roanoke are better mountain towns. Grand Rapids itself isn't that pretty, but it's close to some very beautiful areas along the lakeshore.
