As much as I don’t particularly care for the region as a whole, it’s hard to argue against Miami. It’s essentially a detached NYC borough.
It’s pretty obviously Miami, yet Atlanta got the most votes. The pro-Atlanta bias on this forum really shows.

Then explain why Miami has nearly 100 more votes in the other thread about which area feels larger? The bottom line is: Atlanta's CBD does feel much more faster paced than Miami's...

Atlanta is a very matured business culture city and has a strong balance of both business culture and recreation both day and night and is probably the most balanced and fast place 'hustle/bustle/recreation' mix of all of these.

Austin during the day time, while not 'dead' is very laid back anti-business culture. That is one of the things that sells Austin is that it is 'not' one of the Fast Paced major cities in the U.S. but caters toward work/life balance. During the night, Austin literally becomes a different city, infact its almost as if the place just becomes someplace else. It's pretty radical how vastly Austin can change attitudes in a short period of time.

I can't speak for Miami but I'd imagine it to be similar to Atlanta in this regard but probably a bit more catered into recreation / night life.. ..I could be wrong though.

Four streetcar lines and an Amtrak station too.

Every city has stuff downtown, no one is discrediting Houston.
Ok thanks. I was mainly responding to comparisons of other Texas cities and Atlanta.

I can totally see how Miami and New Orleans would take the top prize. Good to know about Charlotte too.

It’s walkable and entertaining; a good place to people watch. Not sure if it’s as nice as these other cities but it seems to get the job done for a lot of people as hotels rates and occupancy are high on the weekends.
And also throw in SouthEnd and the Music Factory neighborhood which are extensions of Uptown with their own live, work, play areas.....southern cbds are REALLY slept on...

Houston and Dallas aren't cities that have a centralized urban nature. I lived in Houston a decade ago but nobody went downtown over Uptown, or any specific neighborhood to be honest. This isn't the case with Austin and Atlanta.

Extending neighborhoods changes this whole thread.

Not really...my point is ALL of the major southern cbds are slept on and undervalued in general on this forum. And this included their extended neighborhoods...
