For a couple of years they had a contest to see if someone could huck a quarter across it in honor of George Washington throwing a half dollar across the Potomac.
No one could tell if it made it or not.

*everything Washington did was iconic.

Nope. I actually lived in Coral Gables for a little over half my life. It's not a terrible area. But Miami as a whole sucks. I don't like the "nicer coastal bayfront" areas, either, except maybe Key Biscayne. Too fake, materialistic, overly glamorised, tacky.

But, this comparison is weird anyway. I don't feel Miami and Fort Lauderdale are really "twins." Not the way that Dallas/Fort Worth, Minneapolis/Saint Paul or San Francisco/San Jose are. Fort Lauderdale feels more like a larger suburb. It doesn't have a unique identity apart from Miami aside the fact that English is more spoken there and people are SLIGHTLY friendlier.

i find that no one is from Ft Lauderdale.
Everyone in Ft Lauderdale & Davie sold out to developers years~decades ago.
Now Hollywood is getting into the act in their last Jewish enclaves.

Yes, but the Anderson Bridge in Allston is closer to 72 Smoots.

I voted for Miami, not only because I live here (and chose to after 33 years in CA) but because my body is acclimated to a warm weather climate. Miami, though, is not for everyone—depends where you live (you want to live on or close to the bay in Miami or on Miami Beach where you get much more comforting breezes vs. inland areas), your commute (you want to live close to work due to traffic, unless you are retired) and your income status/career path (Boston will offer more career advancement and wealth building opportunities).

That being said, I brought my wealth and tech job of 33 years with me before recently retiring and enjoy Miami for its lifestyle—year round water and beach access, more modern, great and varied restaurants, nightlife, Brickell and South Beach are highly walkable, beautiful women, shopping, proximity to where I vacation with a hub airport and the cruise capitol of the world in my backyard, and no state income tax. Boston is a better, more rabid sports town and has better educational offerings (K-12 and college); toss up between Ma*sholes v unfriendly/clique-ish SoFla Latinos; however, if I were to move back north to an urban colder weather city NYC would be my preference.

Supercars going 150 between Broward & Dade--and never getting pulled over is another bonus.
Ft Lauderdale has an extremely under-rated night life downtown & on Las Olas
even if the *old Combat Zone is dead & gone.

*moment of silence.

I think Boston/Cambridge better standard of living and overall better choice, however, I would live in Miami/Miami Beach.

Dade/Broward posters are too busy having a good time to show up
here and brag about their nice beaches, epic bar/club scene, fit people,
hot models endless showgirls & Latin cuisine.
Can't wait for COVID to end, and eagerly await South Beach to be back
in full swing. Also, being a libertarian i fully support a thriving sex industry--
And we all know Miami and Ft Lauderdale is all full of that.
Wtf will the pandemic end?
