Curious if anyone had ever looked at black/white or black/everyone else wage/income gaps by city, metropolitan area, or state. Obviously economics isn't the only metric of progress in this area, and there's likely caveats about different history or demographic proportions in different areas, but I am still curious what the raw data says.
If you're black, where are you the most likely (statistically speaking) to be at economic parity with your non-black neighbors?

If I had to guess, I would say that it’s a high-cost Western metro with a minuscule black population. Seattle is the first that comes to mind, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Salt Lake City in Boise were up there too.
For the most part the Black white wage gap is determined by how wealthy whites are vs how wealthy blacks are.
For example Atlanta and Boston metros have similar black poverty rates but Boston is far wealthier for whites.
Basically smaller wage gap doesn’t necessarily mean higher wages.
Yes that makes sense, but conversely I didn't want people comparing "where are black people the richest," for example, and just giving me a bunch of metropolitan areas that are wealthy overall (not where black people are doing disproportionately economically well).
Is there a statistical fix to this issue you have in mind? I get what you're saying, but I also am still curious about the underlying data and different ways to slice and dice it.

{Black Median HH Income/All Races Median HH Income} side by side with the size of each group? That way it's strictly the data but also with a qualitative caveat about group size (i.e. maybe there are some MSAs with a tiny black population but it's still interesting to see that data, even if it is Boise or something odd).
