I 100% agree. People think of FW as smallish but its 800,000 residents, home to several large companies, has a distinct western heritage, is diverse and affordable.

My vote goes to Rochester. Right on Lake Ontario, great university, not too far from Toronto, and awesome locals. There are so many outdoorsy things to do.

No. It seems many/most people have no idea what Atlanta is really like. In particular:

The tree canopy, the city in a forest.

The exquisite, charming, urban neighborhoods.

We keep landing at or near the top of those Places You Must Visit This Year lists and have even scored in the Top 10 for something other than history on some travel-mag readers' polls. I never thought of North Third Street in Old City as a great shopping street, but readers of Condé Nast Traveler said they did a few years back.

The Reading Terminal Market, however, really is all that and a bag of chips.

Seconded, and St. Louis was one of the cities I voted for in the poll.

And I'm a native Kansas Citian.

I'd say Albany, NY ( the Capital District in general), and Milwaukee. A slight uptake in recent years, but both actually have quite a bit to offer, including very affordable housing prices...

Atlanta has an Olympic Games worth of advertising. What a weird choice on here.
