It's weird because the month started out horribly (14 murders in 8 days). Then it slowed down and the city went 5 straight days without any murders. Now with the violent memorial weekend spike it'll probably be greater or equal to last May's number of 32.

Apparently Chicago has had its worst Memorial Day weekend in years with 9 killed. I'm beginning to think Chicago is just perpetually violent by nature/design. This really sucks because the world needs to see year over year progress in Chicago for people to change their opinions.

You must be young. Did you never check out the 70s thru 90s? Try NYC in the 70s and by the early 80s was well over 2000 a yr. Great them days are over.

But the death was a couple higher not shootings. But very sad indeed as 0ver 70% shooting and those who die are Black.

https://chicago.cbslocal.com/2020/05...hicago-police/

On Memorial Day of last year, at least 43 people were shot, seven of which were fatal. The year before that in 2018 39 people were shot, and seven of them were killed. And video shows on Memorial Day 2017 a beach brawl got out of hand on North Avenue.

I wish I could wave a magic wand and clean our the perps out of them neighborhoods.

Unless the next 6 days are EXCEPTIONALLY violent in Chicago the homicide number will be down this month. Thankfully.

Yeah, because when I "visited" Jamaica plain, it did not seem "ghetto" at all... But again I was living in Brockton at the time and when you live in Brockton, you have a different view of what you will consider "ghetto"

It was sketchY back in the day but after the early 2000s it was one of few of the more southern neighborhoods to get gentrified into oblivion
