Keep in mind that it consolidated with Bibb County. So, Macon and Bibb County are the same thing in terms of boundaries. With that said, there are 155,000 people even with the consolidation.
Does anyone know definitively what Detroit’s number is? I know they have their crime stats site but that’s somewhat unreliable because they do it by incident, not by person. For example, if there is a double or triple homicide, it will only show as 1 since that’s one incident at one location. I’ve also noticed that some homicides simply never get added in. There will be a news article on one giving the date and location, then you check Detroit PD and it never shows up.
Man stabbed to death Friday in Dorchester. This is Dorchesters 21st homicides ‘s there were additional shootings in Jamaica Plain as well as Dorchester.

In Chicago, already 8 killed and 25 wounded on Saturday 10:00am in the 4th of July weekend: link to heyjackass. More killed than the whole weekend last year already ... Disturbing numbers. Heyjackass counts the weekend as Thursday 12:00pm to Monday 6am.
What I don't get is why the demographic affected doesn't just stay inside rather than go out and risk the odds of getting shot. It's the same old story every year, everybody should know what going outside may result in.

Hey Jackass isn't reliable. I'll wait for the rest. So far it's 6 (though that's not exactly better)
And for the second part, life goes on. After a while getting shot and or killed just seems like a natural part of life. Even as a kid.
