481 shot, 63 killed in August in Chicago. That total includes 39 minors shot. 51 officers have been shot in total this year, compared to 15 in all of 2019 and 2018. 505 murders as of Aug 30, per compstat report.
However, police says summer violence has dropped in August. Technically that is true, but it feels empty when murders are already more than all of 2019 and is expected to end with 2017 numbers at a bare minimum.
