Monday had two. 33 year old killed during a double shooting outside club tropics at 3727 Dilido Road.
166 homicides YTD. Also averaging 3 shooting victims a day so far in September.
I was going to respond to this earlier, cause I know this statement was way off, but decided to wait until compstat came out with the stats today. I understand you were basing it off the information the poster provided, but that was just fatal shootings, not including stabbings or other murder methods.
NYC this week had 16 homicides. In the past 28 days, 57 homicides....thats about 2 a day, a pace of 730
homicides for the year. This past month homicides have caught up to the shootings. In June and July, there were so many non fatal shootings...it was a matter of time before they became fatal. NYC already has overtaken last years homicide total, and we're not even through September yet....321 homicides this year so far as compared to 311 all of last year.
That's just what happens when a city has over 1,300 people shot for the year.
Be aware, that tracking NYC homicides is not easy. It's not like Boston, where 1 homicide a week is the norm. NYC in a bad week can easily tally over 20 homicides due to its size, so it's really not easy to give a play by play like smaller cities. Best thing to do with NYC and other large cities is wait until the statistics come in. I was going to update, but there were so many homicides, fatal shootings, likely shootings, stabbings, found dead bodies in rivers in NYC, that you lose track.
Murder rates are going to continue to rise as police retreat into hiding holes only to come out for 911 calls, due to the political climate across the country. Proactive police work is dead.
There are no stats that can be obtained detailing how many times traffic stops could have yielded recovered guns that would end up being used in homicides, or ended in an arrest of a future murderer for something else, (such as warrants, drug delivery/ possession, ect.), in cities across the country.

Actually NYPD has been very proactive, not the street cops, but field intelligence officers. Last week they got 171 guns off the streets, most since 1994. The week before they consficated over 100 guns as well, most since 1995. But this could be that there are more guns on the streets now than years past.

Good to hear. It is a specialized unit whose job is to be proactive. I think those units will remain proactive. However I think patrol officers doing proactive work, patrolling for burglars, doing traffic stops looking for gang members, guns, warrants, and drugs is pretty much dead, though.
Those numbers can be a combination of those things. It could additionally be the fact that the anti-crimes unit has been disbanded and Field Intel is picking up their workload.

Interesting didn't see anything about it yesterday. Just looked at multiple news websites and it was a struggle to even find an article about it,although I eventually did. Must be to much going on in the metroplex.
