Jacksonville- 167 highest it’s been in decades
Tampa- 33 this is a little above average for this point in the year, but not by a ton
St Pete- 20 same as Tampa. As of recent the city averages about 18-20 a year
Does anyone have a reliable number for Detroit? Their crime stats system says 280, but the system is always running behind the real total. My guess is right around 300.
!!Not political!! but these numbers are probably going to worse for a few years with the economic fallout.
I don't know, murders continued to decline in most cities during the Great Recession.
I still think murders will worsen due to the rollback of tough on crime approach and police cutbacks/less aggressive policing, not to mention the release of thousands of prisoners from prisons and jail to decrease crowding during COVID. Even after COVID, those felons will be on the street until they are caught reoffending.

Any ideas on the numbers for Orlando and Miami? I know both cities recently went through multiple weeks without a single murder. While murders are up in cities across the nation, I think murder is down substantially in Miami and Orlando, and about the same in Tampa Bay. Jacksonville is the lone Florida city still experiencing major homicide numbers.
