Couple options close to Nubian Square:

https://www.trulia.com/p/ma/boston/1...21--2172420976

https://www.trulia.com/p/ma/boston/1...19--2171828572

You could also look just north of the city in Malden. Commute from Malden Center Station to Nubian Square goth now is 41 minutes but there’s an accidents adding 12 minutes to the time. Malden is another option for better public school district.

Stamford:
Surprisingly there’s far fewer units in that price range available in Stamford than Boston. 3 3BR under 2200 in the city

Norwalk: Norwalk has just 6

Runnemede is also about 6% black and somewhat lower income but its affordable and close to Philly

Capital Heights is uhh...well its capital heights. I wouldn't.

These places are very fundamentally different than Nubian Square-Boston which is about a mile from Downtown Boston if that. Only 2br fit your budget in Nubian Square unless you grab an income restricted townhome from madison park Development Corporation. If you looked at Boston and needed 3 BR at that price i'd look a little further south. Still easily within 35 minutes of downtown and very walkable.

Stamford CT will have plenty options for you though. I'm curious why Stamford and not White Plains?

how many kids/bedrooms?
Those locations are where the job sites are at not where I would prefer to stay in at all. Like I stated an ideal location would be 30 to 35 minutes from the job site. And btw I appreciate all your information. As with everybody else.

There may be a few great neighborhoods in Chicago or Philadelphia that might work for you...I think Boston and NYC are just as or more expensive than DC...NYC is NYC and that has its own attraction and I think you all can figure out really quickly whether or not you like that lifestyle...from a metro standpoint, DMV wins this pretty easily IMO although there may be a few specific neighborhoods in other cities that fit the bill
The problem with Houston and why we're looking at other options outside of Houston is:
1. Houston lacks a PR and marketing and entertainment industry. (This is essentially why we moved out of Houston in the first place and moved to Atlanta. If we wasn't in these industries than we wouldn't mind remaining in Houston but because we only get so far career wise, especially in my Wife's career we're deciding to explore other options or just probably end up moving back to Atlanta)

2. A lot of walkable areas in Houston unfortunately are not ideal areas for a young Black couple with a toddler looking for a diverse community with a highly rated diverse school. Most high rated schools that are evenly diverse in Houston metro area are in the burbs. I'm not big on burbs but I'll settle for them to ensure our child gets the best education possible.

We've definitely looked in DMV, a couple of years ago I was offered a job there and passed on it because we were content with our lifestyle and career in Atlanta. Atlanta is still our #1 choice if we decide to move out of Houston but i'm highly interested in residing in the Northeast and having access to some of the biggest entertainment/PR &Marketing markets in the country to advance our careers.

So, while you may not necessary need a predominantly Black, middle class area, you can live in a diverse one, with such areas adjacent to it. From 6th Street/north: Census Block Group 005300-1 in Westchester County, New York

An adjacent area of New Rochelle: Census Block Group 006400-3 in Westchester County, New York

A nearby area of Mount Vernon: Census Block Group 004100-3 in Westchester County, New York

Tuckahoe isn't too far from either of those cities as well(closer to Mount Vernon though).

Also, in terms of a train station and White Plains, while it isn't walkable, this block group is near the North White Plains Metro North station: Census Block Group 010902-2 in Westchester County, New York
