It's funny because Seattle actually has one of the better climates in the region as it sits in a rain shadow. I'm 60 miles south of Seattle and we get a foot more rain and like 20+ more cloudy days for instance.

Yeah Seattle has way less rain than say the Olympic peninsula or further east to the Cascades.

All the rain falls out before reaching Seattle.

Yeah that's not saying much though. I don't mind some gloomy weather but damn a whole month or more without sun, that sounds awful.

Weeks with no sun is typical winter weather here and not unusual tbh. A few years ago we went from October - March with only 3 sunny days:

That said, our summers are generally pretty nice

That was omitting partially-sunny days. There are quite a few of those even in the rainy season.

You're right but I'm also down in Olympia which is cloudier/wetter than Seattle where the data was taken.

According to a competitive website that I’m not allowed to mention on CD (hint: starts with an S), Miami has an average of 248 sunny days vs 152 for Seattle.

This is similar to findings from another site I can reference:

https://www.currentresults.com/Weath...f-sunshine.php

https://www.currentresults.com/Weath...f-sunshine.php

On many of the days Miami gets rain it comes in the form of passing 30-45 minute thunderstorms before it clears up again—these are not counted in the clear sunny totals (and when it rains it can pour).

Seattle seems like a lovely town. I'd love to visit one day. I love mountains and Hills, and Seattle plenty. Rainier Valley and Central District look interesting. Would love to visit.
