Agree, but few posters make that distinction - they throw the whole metro under the bus as if there was no reason to live anywhere near there

Oakland County, MI is very nice and part of the Detroit metro. Just like on our Pittsburgh board. People talk so much crap on Cleveland and Detroit. Allegheny County (Pittsburgh) is much lower in growth. 87 out of 100 jobs added and even lower in percentage.

There are so many good and bests lists that Pittsburgh make, but it is fair to say without good job growth it’s gonna be difficult to stay relevant.

I'm surprised by how small the jobs increase has been in Manhattan. Is anyone else surprised?

Despite Manhattan's flashy growth, in percentage terms it hasn't been that much.

Why? The jobs are already there. The growth ratio isn't going to be anything like places such as Orlando and Nashville.

Pittsburgh is very rapidly gentrifying. Our population and overall economy have stagnated through the 2010's, but the existing population has become much better-educated and, unsurprisingly, also much more affluent.

Pittsburgh is a good choice to live in if you like inertia. If you like Pittsburgh in 2020 you'll probably like Pittsburgh in 2030 because it will be exactly the same---only wealthier.
