Few things I'm looking out for:

Does any metro beat out Toronto's y/y growth? Last year only DFW did.
Does Chicago continue to slide for int'l migration, does Orlando continue to gain?
Does Metro Baltimore go negative this year?
Do Austin and Charlotte continue to stay ahead of Atlanta for domestic migration?
Does Boise surpass Nashville for domestic migration? Does it break into the top 15?
Do NY, LA, and Chicago's rates of decline accelerate?

I Bet Chicago is down to 2.4 million by now. It won't be reflected in these estimates ( which will probably give the same old 2.7 million figure) but when the 2020 Census comes out it's not good. Chicago lost 200,000 people in 2010

The race to 7 million should heat up between DC, Miami and Atlanta. It will be exciting to watch moving forward.

There will be very low growth numbers for this year between immigration and the international virus crisis.

I doubt it will be anywhere near that. While some west and south side neighborhoods lose people, the north side and west and south Loop boom with construction has continued. You need to be in Chicago to see what is going on. In 2010, the west Loop hardly existed,

Not to mention the effects of an all-but-certain recession depressing birth rates even further. 2020 is quickly shaping up as a major turning point.

The estimates that are expected to be released sometime this month for MSAs and CSAs are for July 1, 2018 to July 1, 2019. Meaning it wont have anything to do with the COVID-19 crisis. Even the final census tally next year for 2020 wont have much to do with COVID-19 given that the United States' exposure to it was the second half of February 2020 and all of March 2020. That's only one and a half months. The 2020 census count will only go up to April 1, 2020.

April 1, 2010 to April 1, 2020.

The only way COVID-19 will have an immense effect on it is if people are so scared to go outside that they never bothered checking their mail, filling out their census form, and mailing their census forms in by April 1, 2020 and thus didn't get counted. Even then, they can just simply do it online if they have access to Internet. If they don't then they can just do it by phone. The people have no excuse to not get it done.

Two thirds of March is over, the census estimate release schedule merely says "3/2020" for the 2019 MSA/CSA census estimate release, it literally could be anyday in March. That means within the next 10-11 days it'll be out.

There's going to be a huge decrease. Many people, from Mexico especially, have moved back since the Wuhon virus started to heat up in the US. Cars down there are packed with vehicles that have US license plates.
