My significant other and I are planning to relocate to San Antonio or Tampa Bay from Atlanta, Ga. I have lived in Orlando, FL for a short amount of time with family and I’ve visited Tampa from time to time as well, so I am a familiar with those areas. My significant other was stationed in San Antonio for military purposes. I would like input from locals or individuals who are familiar with either area. We are both working college students trying to find an affordable city in order for us to save up for the next few years prior to moving to California later in life. We are ideally looking to pay less than $1,200 for rent and secure jobs making no less than $35,000. I have years of experience in retail, sales, and administrative work. I also have my AS degree in Fashion Business Management and I am currently working towards my BA in Interior Design. My significant other has experience as a surgical technician, corrections, and sales as well. She plans to go to school for architecture, but would like to attend a specific school in California later. Starting out, we did a lot of research on the Tampa Bay Area because I do enjoy the environment there and it seems to be a lot to do (also close to Orlando and not too bad of a drive from Miami), but with the job market there and the average monthly rent we don’t see ourselves saving much. Look forward to your input and please feel free to ask any questions. Please recommend other cities as well if you would like.

All 3 are good, quality metros. I lived in Orlando at one time and loved that whole Tampa Bay/Orlando corridor. Am also familiar with Atlanta and San Antonio. There's plenty to do in all 3 and they all have good economies. Though Tampa's cost of living is pretty low and the economy is good, rents are a bit high. Atlanta's cost of living still relatively affordable, but a little above the national average. For the time being, San Antonio would seem to have the best balance of everything given your situation and goals. Low cost of living and great buying power.

San Antonio is better. You can have a great quality of life and be with your significant other. Tampa is ok but can get old quick.
