^^ Missouri is one of the most regressive, religious and conservative states in the Union. And it's Jefferson City who is passing laws that impact Saint Louis. All those rural backward counties always outvote STL and KC. So yes, city-for-city, both are quite progressive. But on the whole, I'd take the swing state Wisconsin over red state Missouri.

If I were OP, I'd much rather have lesbian Senator Tammy Baldwin than someone odious like Josh Hawley. Not to mention a Democratic Governor, and Madison nearby, with its LGBT Congressman and one of the most liberal populations nationwide.

Milwaukee is the only city in the country, that has had three Socialist mayors. I'm not particularly a fan of that, but worth mentioning, if we're talking liberal.

For whatever this is worth, I don’t think Milwaukee ever took this title. Moderator cut: link removed, competitor site

Are there any major progressive parts of Wisconsin outside of the Madison and Milwaukee areas?

I'd rather not say the exact area, but it would be in the public school system in more urban areas of both cities.

I mean, the mayor of my current town has literally gone on record on social media stating that he doesn't think he's a politician, despite running for mayor twice and becoming mayor of the next town over. So, it'd be pretty difficult to have a mayor less intelligent than that. Like, our downtown is dead and the price of storefronts is too high to afford to operate a business here, but thank god we have a 2000sq foot dog park that cost $300,000 that no one's used because it's too close to the main road and too small for anything but a Weiner dog.

These are the two most populous areas in the state, and the cities proper and most of their surrounding areas are liberal. The rest of the state is a mix...some cities more liberal than others. If the OP is inquiring about Milwaukee, I thought that's what I would mention...we aren't talking about Madison, Green Bay, etc.

Both cities are on water. Milwaukee on a lake that looks like an ocean, and ST. Louis on a river. Milwaukee also has a river running through downtown...https://urbanland.uli.org/planning-d...alk-wisconsin/

There are trains that run between Milwaukee and Chicago, 7 a day, I believe. Within the next couple of years, those are increasing to ten. This would matter, only, if you want quick access to a world class city.

It is patently false to assert that Milwaukee is more liberal than St. Louis. It is just not true. St. Louis is significantly more Democratic than Milwaukee. Yeah, I get it- voting Democratic doesn’t necessarily equate to liberal politics, and I agree. But it is undeniable that Milwaukee is more Republican than St. Louis. Period. It’s an empirical fact. Moderator cut: link removed, competitor site

And St. Louis ranks #15 nationally on the Most Liberal Cities 2020 list, while Milwaukee fails to make the top 20:

The top twenty most liberal cities in the United States are:

1. San Francisco, CA
2. Washington, DC
3. Seattle, WA
4. Oakland, CA
5. Boston, MA
6. Minneapolis, MN
7. Detroit, MI
8. New York City, NY
9. Buffalo, NY
10. Baltimore, MD
11. Chicago, IL
12. Portland, OR
13. St. Paul, MN
14. Austin, TX
15. St. Louis, MO
16. Philadelphia, PA
17. New Orleans, LA
18. Los Angeles, CA
19. Pittsburgh PA
20. Denver, CO

33. Milwaukee, WI

So can we please stop making the loaded claims that Milwaukee is so much more progressive because WI isn’t quite as backwards as MO? We are comparing cities, not states, and if one of the two is more liberal than the other, it is St. Louis.

I didn't say it was more liberal, I said it's the only city in the US that has had 3 Socialist mayors. Anyway, clearly, my vote would be for Milwaukee....location, Lake Michigan, and I think it wouldn't be as big of a change, coming from the east. The city itself is bigger, MSA is smaller, but Milwaukee is more dense...I like density. Milwaukee's MSA would be bigger than it is, but they keep losing parts of it to Chicago....the two cities are very connected. To me, that's a huge plus.
