It's not within the metro, yet is quite visible from downtown and the waterfront, therefore should not be excluded. The same for the Olympic Mountains, visible from Seattle, and the Cascades, visible from parts of Seattle and much of the eastside

Nonetheless, even without Rainier, based on the mountains, forests, lakes, and rivers of the eastside I would go with Seattle. I was born in SF and have been to Honolulu. Both Honolulu and SF are nice but it's a matter of taste, and I happen to prefer the mountains/woods over ocean/beaches.

They are all beautiful, but I would have to go with Honolulu.

Strongly disagree with this statement, especially if we're talking within a 30 minute drive/ferry ride from these cities.

Don't you love it when someone in OKC highlights how unexecptional Seattle and SF are?

I think most people without a bias would say exactly this.

I can't think of a more beautiful metro on the planet.. try it though
Not to take away from Seattle since it's one of the best for natural scenery in the US, but the planet? I can think of one in the PNW alone.

Honolulu looks the most like a Tropical Paradise however I don't think it's as beautiful as Seattle or San Francisco and especially as beautiful San Francisco because it's not as varied as that part of California and variety is the spice of life

TacoSoup, please see Exhibit A in proving those without a bias will say Honolulu. Those with a bias will say something else.

Are you saying Vancouver or Portland are more beautiful metro areas than Seattle? Them's fightin' words.
