Well Boston has more graffiti than DC. But it’s nothing like NYC Philly or Baltimroe or even Hartford/Providence.

It’s working on upping its mural/street art game but they don’t really get commissioned outside of poorer inner city areas. They’re very nice though, look up Robb ‘Problak’ Gibbs if Boston and Lynn’s Beyond Walls event

Charleston is just too small so it's lacking in diversity, public transportation (only basic city buses), and major league pro sports. But it does everything else quite well: vibrant downtown (you could say it's a mini-Boston of sorts), coastal location with three rivers, very little snow in winter, clean, no large visible panhandling population, and it's growing rapidly/housing values increasing (although things might change with the pandemic).

Yeah I knew it wasn’t that diverse when I listed it and obviously it doesn’t have any sports teams. I like generally large cities but was intrigued about Charleston. I think when it comes down to it, the lack of diversity does it in. I love food from all different cultures and I like a cosmopolitan environment, so Charleston’s 70% white and 30% black population breakdown really doesn’t do it for me.

Charleston is well-known for its cuisine but ethnic variety isn't part of it. And not only is Charleston becoming less diverse in its resident population due to rampant gentrification, but the tourist crowd is largely White (and affluent) also. However, I expect the pandemic to put the brakes on gentrification in the short-term at least and the opening of the International African American Museum in the near future will at least bring more Black tourists downtown.

Depends on budget. You’d literally get twice the house in Dallas vs Boston

For that money they all lose to Charlotte and San Antonio. Nashville is nice but you won't get a nice place in the city for that.

With that monthly amount and the per diem I get, I’ve never been able to afford to live in any city’s core except Jacksonville and Phoenix. Usually I live right outside or in a nearby suburb, which is just fine with me. Then I spend every weekend exploring the city’s core and cool spots.

Same for me. I commute. Well in that case that opens up a few doors. I thought you might be one of those people who have to be downtown. For Charlotte, South Park, Noda, Davidson, are all nice. I am not as familiar with San Antonio, but it looks very affordable. In Nashville you could get into the Antioch and Madison areas, but I would not suggest those areas for a number of reasons.
