This appears to be by cities proper. We're all doing badly by the way.

Not really.

First, they're describing a "change in unemployment" by percentage increase. If unemployment was low, it's easier to rank high on the list.

Second, it's only about March. This means cities that clamped down early. It's interesting in that context but isn't relevant to today or even April.

It would also be nice to have an idea of the types of jobs lost—service oriented jobs vs professional jobs.

More tourist oriented cities with more restaurants (2nd largest private employer in the country) and hotels are more likely to have more job losses. These positions are also more easily replaceable at some future date than other jobs/occupations requiring specific skill sets. Hialeah is heavily Hispanic (95%)—willing to bet the vast majority of residents from there lost a service and/or hospitality related job.

Depending how bad and low long the situation lasts, I would expect the 10 US cities with the largest homeless populations (which includes Seattle and Vegas)—and others— to get worse.

I was hoping this would be a 1.5 - 2 year recovery; thinking more like 4-7 year time frame.

True but they also have a year-over-year ranking as well:

As I said, nowhere is doing well right now.

Not really too surprising to be honest. Like Montclair said though, I can't imagine a place that's doing well right now.

Love Seattle but I would really hate to live there without a job.

Basically though as stated, everything is going down the toilet as far as the economy goes. It doesnt matter where you are or what you do, EVERYTHING is going to get f'd over. Even white collar and IT jobs have been taking a much larger hit than I thought they would (I'm in the field, got laid off) as even though they may be resilient to pandemics, they do not like to invest in projects with negative returns and therefore cancel any workforce invested in those projects.

Wanna know the best places to be now?

Online Streaming Content (Netflix, Hulu, YouTube TV [subscription], ect)
Agriculture & Farming equipment (we still need to eat)

Oh...and bathroom tissue production.

Doesn’t look like the report even considered Boston?

Yeah. This is unfortunately not only countrywide, but worldwide.

For anyone who trades stock in here, wild how stock prices have still remained somewhat stable for the past month even though the economic readings are all poor. I think we're going to have a huge dip, especially if there's another wave.

Yup...expect a drop to start sometime during this month...think the final bottom in this market won’t be in until January.

Boston wasn’t even on the list nor was Hartford. I’m sure Boston is up there
