I suppose I also have something of a soft spot for cities like Memphis because in SC, (mostly white) folks often reference my majority Black hometown in much the same manner yet they are oblivious to the positives and many have little to no firsthand experience with the city in the first place.

Had a discussion with someone about my hometown in the Sipp thread here. They mentioned the shady/no go areas and i asked them to get specific & as usual everywhere that was majority black ( including my neighborhood).
When people speak on the larger cities social reputation it's also the same for small towns/cities as well. People don't have a drastically different lifestyle from either one.
Truth. Before I delved into the actual facts and data on Nashville, I thought it was a somewhat small heavily white rednecky country city that only quirky white millennials wanted to revive. I was wrong
Many people believed that. How could you not with the tv programs and weekend trip bloggers who only describe Nashville based on one street (Broadway)? Often overlooked are Nashville's wealthy in town neighborhoods and suburbs, art and food scenes, startups and notable black colleges as some have already mentioned.
