If you could work remotely and keep the same job, same salary, would you rather live in the Phoenix area (Tempe) in a big home or in the Atlanta area (Dunwoody) in a town house?

Mortgage free (no loan from the bank for the home)
No kids (school is not an issue)

*edit: we currently live in the Atlanta area and are thinking of moving

Between the two, Atlanta because of the relatively better economy.

Neither of them would be anywhere near the top of my list though. My preferred locations would be in this order

1. Dallas
2. Houston
3. Charlotte
4. Chicago
5. Minneapolis
6. Tampa
7. Atlanta
8. Nashville
9. Philadelphia
10. Phoenix
11. DC
12. Los Angeles

Probably Atlanta. Just not the suburbs.

Neither.

If I had to choose though, probably Dunwoody.

Otherwise I would be out in the Pacific Region somewhere.

Gotta like heat in Tempe...wonderful Art Galleries, nice people...cultural things in Phoenix...
but golly, 105 in Spring? So dry: cracked noses, aged skin! Takes a couple yrs to really get acclimated.
Compared to Death Valley it's like Rhode Island..there's that.

Why a townhouse for Atlanta and a single family house in Tempe? Depending on your budget you can get a brand new big townhouse here in Tempe close to a lot of international food and restaurants.

Atlanta is a cheaper metro than Phoenix and a lot more sprawling even against Phoenix’s reputation so to me a SFH in Atlanta makes more sense as you can probably get more for less than you would here. Phoenix never gets frosts or freezes though we do have places about an hour away that do if you ever want that on occasion.

What is making you consider leaving Atlanta to begin with? You already live there so you know what it’s like. It’s obviously not the most ideal for whatever reason or you wouldn’t be considering Tempe at all. What is appealing about Phoenix in particular? We need more details
