I am curious what Americans think is the most appealing Canadian skyline
They are all fast growing cities with a ton of new construction

Toronto - 100km radius population: 8,626,831

Montreal - 100km radius population: 4,737,767

Vancouver - 100km radius population: 3,207,026

I like using the radius populations because statscan does not allow CMA (Census Metropolitan Areas) to merge after they hit 100,000 so Toronto and Vancouver are boxed in because they have 100,000 CMAs on their borders and so their metro borders are fixed forever while montreal's metro area continues to expand as no other CA are close to 100,000.

Kinda hard to say. Toronto is the tallest. Vancouver might be the densest and it has the gorgeous waterfront and mountains. Montreal has a very underrated skyline. I probably rank them as Vancouver, Toronto, then Montreal. But all 3 have amazing skylines. Don’t sleep on Calgary or Edmonton either.

I'd say Toronto, Montreal {Gap} Vancouver. Toronto is just next level, Montreal has a lot of variety and Vancouver is just too table top/bland for me.

Yes, true. Vancouver doesn't really have a traditional skyline, it's way too uniform in height.

I think my previous home of Montreal has the best.

Toronto > Montreal >>>>>>> Vancouver.

Vancouver does not have a nice skyline. It’s dense, but that’s about it.

Montreal has tons of height restrictions, which results in lower buildings than some of its counterparts.

Both Vancouver and Montreal have height limits of different flavours and both top out around 200m.

Cavete, Suburban Vancouver doesn't have those restrictions and 17 of the 25 tallest buildings (built or U/C) are in the suburbs:

25 Tallest Buildings in Greater Vancouver
Burnaby: 14 (Tallest 215m)
Vancouver: 8 (Tallest 197m)
New Westminster: 1 (Tallest 180m)
Surrey: 1 (Tallest 164m)
Coquitlam 1 (Tallest 162m

Montreal just does a terrific job at having low density throughout (5-8 story buildings tightly packed along narrow streets) and a cluster of high rises in the middle with the mountain backdrop. It makes it stand out.

Toronto obviously has quantity, and height, and of extreme numbers, which is also impressive. It evokes a feeling of grandeur when approaching that I don’t see anywhere in NA outside of NYC, and MAYBE Chicago.

Toronto > Vancouver >>> Montreal

Not a fan of Montreal's skyline, I don't find anything special or noteworthy about it, lots of midcentury built up cities in NA look like it. It's definitely for me more of a city to be lived on the street and ground level than above for its aesthetics.

Toronto definitely has the coolest buildings and proposals in Canada by a wide margin. Overall it has the "best" skyline for architecture, built up density, diversity of building types, perhaps even among the best in the continent.

Vancouver is glassy and new-ish and can't beat the natural backdrop. It kind of looks like a modern Asian city and has its own share of new and cool buildings, but it's too much concentrated in one area.
