You read into that too much... My comment was a larger point about the Nashville market, not how high-end a particular Nordstrom is.
I understood what you meant. Also, to Nashville's credit, it does have a lot of high end boutiques. Most of them are local so you don't really hear much about them unless you are in the know. It is limited thinking to believe that high end is synonymous with a luxury department store.
IMO Miami>Dallas>Houston>Atlanta>>>Austin>Charlotte. If Orlando was added, it would be between Atlanta and Austin, Tampa would be around Charlotte's level, and Nashville and San Antonio would be just below Charlotte. New Orleans may not have as many high-end stores, but is arguably a better shopping city than Charlotte or Austin due to a lot more mom and pop businesses and its more compact, walkable environment, while still having Saks, Louis Vuitton, and Tiffany for more traditional high-end luxury.
