Kansas City - Easily for me. Affordable, more to do than people realize, great people, great food scene. One of my favorite metros anywhere.
Denver - Their only big downfall for me is their high cost of living. Very livable area, beautiful surroundings, good economy, and great climate (IMO).
San Diego - Beautiful area and my favorite city in CA. But being in CA is a negative for me, Unfortunately. High cost of living too.
Los Angeles - Was an incredible place at one time, IMO. I was there 2 years ago and was dumbfounded by how fast it's gone downhill. My youngest son took a long road trip out west after he got out of the Army this past summer. When he got to LA and saw how horrible downtown was and the area around Santa Monica, he totally changed his plans and headed to UT, CO, and AZ for the rest of his trip. Plus, it's expensive on top of everything else. No way!
This one was a bit tougher. I'm on a COL warpath lately, so I chose Vegas.
LA is cool, but I don't think I'd want to live there. Then again, the job market for my field is almost nonexistent in Vegas, so LA may be the more practical choice that I should've picked.
KC I don't have much desire to live in, but haven't explored at all. Good BBQ. I know it's been fairly popular recently for Portland expats. For some reason my SO hates KC, so that might be burned into my subconscious too.
Denver, if I were more into winter sports maybe. Reminds me of Portland, in a sense (outdoors, rising COL)
Long story short this one has probably been the toughest for me so far, in that I wouldn't dislike living in any of these locations.
