Why are you saying Boston?

The Pats are not based in Boston, nor named after Boston, and Gillette is closer to Providence. It should just say ‘New England’

Because New England isn't a city. I could say Foxborough, MA - but thats 22 miles from Boston.... so Boston it is.

Nah, Kraft didn't buy the team until '94 and they played in Foxborough in the 80's too.

That's like saying the Dallas Cowboys are not based in Dallas.

The point is, the New England Patriots still play in the Boston metro area.

Also JFYI, the Patriots were originally the Boston Patriots.

It was not uncommon in my house growing up to ask my Dad who was playing (back in the 80's/90's) and every now and then he would say "Boston" in reference to the Patriots. I would always correct him and say they're New England but it didn't matter, in one ear and out the other lol

And in the real world, if you were to ask the average person, they would associate the Patriots with Boston, partially because it's *THE* big city in New England and professional sports teams are generally only in big cities.

I'm not really into sports, but I am a huge weather geek. I know someone who loves Football and we were jokingly saying that the reason Boston got bombarded with that freak 100" of snow within 1 month back in 2015 was bad karma because of Deflategate. It was a funny coincidence.

True. Hell, the NY teams have the been the butt of this line of joking ever since they all moved to the swamps of Jersey. The Giants in the 70's and the Jets in the 80's.

The East Rutherford Giants and Jets. Or more popular has always been the NJ Giants and Jets. It's so played out now obviously many moons later.

But yeah I tend to agree with what you're saying. It really should be the big city in that given geographic region.
