Sorry but the ''because of Obama'' excuse is misplaced. Chicago was headlines decades before Barry became President. Early '90s Chicago, DC, NYC, LA were all headliners then; some cities like NYC and LA were able to get the murders down, others like Chicago and DC, not so much...better at times, but never to the NYC-LA low levels.
It's the numbers that dominate...600 in Chicago and 407 in Philly today type of headline...I think LA is below 300 and NYC remains historically low despite a large uptick since 2020.
Chicago didn’t improve the bad areas like NYC and LA. Wynwood in Miami was dangerous area now it tourist area and young people moving to their area it was different in 2006.
Any data for Jackson can be found on WLBT & Clarion Ledger.
Wow, I didn't know Jackson, MS was that bad!

I wonder how they calculated the rate for Flint. Flint police reports 61 homicides in 2020: link. Flint had a population of 81,252 in 2020: link to Census data. That gives a rate of 75.07, not 46.4.

In 2020, there were 40 homicide incidents, and 44 offenses reported by the Flint Police Department
Only Murder/Nonnegligent Manslaughter are included. FBI also very rarely goes by the current us census number.
Crime stats are audited multiple times before the FBI gets the data. Not uncommon for agencies to further investigate a crime and conclude that it was justified, should be changed to Manslaughter, or that it occurred in a different city/agency. They can also go back and change it to a prior year, and have it only included in internal stats.

It's the 32nd straight year that Louisiana's had the highest murder rate, but I remember reading something about Mississippi's rate being the highest in 2020.
