Official number per the FBI was 44, which equals 46 per 100k when using the higher popular estimate.

This stuff is just so mind-numbling depressing. It’s horrible to read what’s happening. I literally can’t focus on anything in my life anymore as long as this crap happens. There are some really nasty areas in the UK, Spain, etc but many of those people will go their entire lives without seeing a single shooting.

Louisville is on pace for 200, with 25% of year left already 21 kids under age 18 have died. When I moved there in the early 2000s there were usually 45 to 85 homicides. The nature of the cases are also getting more violent. Recently there was a drive by at a bus stop, 1 dead 3 injured. A man was kidnapped then murdered a week later when his family didn't pay the ransom.

Starting to sound like Memphis, TN.

Still that's nothing compared to New Orleans of the mid-1990's.

Prince Albert’s rate is crazy for a town in Canada that’s not very tiny. I feel like most of the time when you see rates above 10 per 100k, it’s in a little town where a double murder happened or something.

The prairie provinces have higher homicide rates than North Dakota and Montana on the other side of the border. BC also has astronomical property crime. Lack of economic opportunity outside of oil is a real problem in Western Canada.

I just wonder where the discrepancy comes from: according to Flint police there are 55 (intentional)homicides and according the FBI 44. I tend to believe the Flint police numbers are more accurate because they have actually been processing the homicide cases and not the FBI.

This year until October 3rd Flint has seen 53 homicides of which 49 are classified as murder, a 23% increase over 2020: link.

The rates are very low compared to the U.S.
