Last year, the homicide rate was 88/100K, which is already staggering. If trends continue, STL will end up with a homicide rate of 113/100K, a rate found usually only in narco states. And that's assuming a population of 300K. STL's population is probably closer to 290K right now. As for this new mayor bringing a reduction in crime, that will not happen. If anything, this new mayor, being a super-liberal woman, will only complete the process of making St Louis uninhabitable.

At this point, I'm thinking the only thing that will cause the St Louis homicide rate to come down to earth is the goons simply running out of people to kill.

And a contradiction too. The city is at record levels for construction, investment, development, etc. yet a record high murder rate. At least in the early 90s the city wasn't doing so hot. I guess a tale of two cities is a real thing.

(The DA primary is in 2 weeks, will be interesting to see if the Progressive DA stays in).

Considering Phillys demographics they likely will.

Glancing at the homicide map, seems like it's gotten worse in the usual hotspots north of Delmar and the SE part of the city. DC looks the same with east of the river getting worse but the safe areas staying safe. If this is the case, the neighborhood homicide rates must be well past Juarez levels.

As violent as some U.S cities are, it's still nowhere as bad as Juarez.

Many St Louis crime apologists make the excuse that the crime in St Louis is "concentrated" in certain "small areas."
Well, if that's true, and St Louis still manages to easily have the highest homicide rate among major cities, those 'bad' areas must be like Mordor.

Juarez is "only" about 110 per 100k. I don't have all the population data handy but would seem that St. Louis City north of Delmar could be close.
