3 of these were critical injuries, luckily a lot of people in Boston pull through even if hurt badly. So only 1 confirmed homicide, the one at the hotel.

My apologies if that wasn't clear enough. I tried to demarcate. Yes, I think Boston has a pretty high survival rate for shootings in particular. Fewer than 20% of them are fatal. In Baltimore, it's more like 30% of shootings that are fatal.

Oh ok. Actually I see that now nvm. I thought there were only 7 homicides currently according to universal hub.

I’ve counted 9 I’ve documented them all here.
One of which was a man beaten on Dec 21, 2020 who died January 6th of this year. It was posted on uHub but not ruled a homicide https://www.universalhub.com/2021/se...pompeii-street it was made public until 1 week after he died.
Generally, Boston will not publicly declare a death a homicide if it’s not a clear cut shooting then nearly immediate death.
Those investigations become confidential very quickly and usually get converted to a lesser crime. One would have to call the specific Police Substation for more information.
Either way, they’re murders maybe not homicides?

You've got it backwards, a beating death is certainly a homicide, but if not murder it would be either non-negligent homicide (and thus counted in the murder/non-negligent manslaughter category, which is what is referred to on this forum as the murder total) or self-defense.

Yea maybe I have it backward for whatever reason it hasn't been logged by Boston Police as a homicide. I haven't seen any updates from any major publications. Unfortunately, this happens every year in Boston. I had 61 murders in 2020, Universal Hub had 59 and the BPD had 57 "homicides".
What's more bizarre is the DA issued a statement but didn't call it a homicide.
"In a statement, DA Rachael Rollins said:
Mr. Richardson is accused of a violent attack that robbed Mr. Rose of his life. He will be held accountable for the harm he is alleged to have inflicted.
According to the DA's office, Richardson broke into Rose's first-floor apartment and, after beating Rose, ransacked the place. He was arrested on the building's second floor the same night."
No mention of the word homicide...
But quite frankly the BPD isn't very transparent and at times murders are committed on state police territory (public parks, beaches, and some other misc. categories in Boston). They're on Boston grounds but handled by the state police.
FWIW Boston is on its 4th police commissioner since early 2018 (Paul Evans-moved to Boston College Police Department, Willie Gross (retired on 2 days notice), Dennis White (placed on leave 2 days into term for DV allegations), Greg Long-interim), with a 5th likely to be appointed this year. In addition to this they've got other scandals they're battling. Not much continuity or trustworthiness.
“the local ymca computer”! I’m crying real tears. That’s hilarious lol.
Nothing wrong with saying homie or trip-careful not to venture into respectability politics or linguistic discrimination. But yea, it is uncomfortable to rep your set (really probably not even remotely his ‘set’ or neighborhood) on city data.
Unless it’s backed with substantive data or evidence that’s directly relevant to the discussion it’s just juvenile. Not just shouting California Love from behind a keyboard boasting about homicides.
Places can have gang or crime issue in particular areas and still be vibrant and liveable cities on the whole.
The issue is using homie and gangsta to try and sell your city as more hood then others, makes you look dumb. In the case of a_dioc. It looks like an attention ploy.
It looks extremely fake and is annoying, especially on here. What he says doesn't add up and he's either... It looks like an 18 year old sitting behind a computer typing "my hood is worse than yours" to gain attention. You can't win over what you are trying to say by saying stuff like that, provide actual evidence or data to support that or you just look like a troll. Borderline offensive too
