Dispatch never relocated to Boston proper.. They did, however, record Bang Bang in Rhode Island.

State Radio was out of Sherborn. I know just prior, Dispatch had done some recording in Acton (?).

In any event, we're talking about Dispatch and State Radio. Which, to me, shows the very lack of depth in Boston, and is why it shouldn't be in this conversation comparatively.

If we are doing States, Massachusetts probably has a better argument, especially if you like rock/hard rock/metal.

Boston proper?

Many bands and artist mentioned in this thread haven't been from city propers, especially in small cities like SF (no Green Day or Tupac) or Seattle (no Brandi Carlisle or Nirvana).

We're discussing Dispatch because I like them. For generally popular acts see this post and this one. Maybe add the Modern Lovers to that considering both Jack White and David Bowie have covered Pablo Picasso. Boys Like Girls and the Mighty Mighty Bosstones too. Maybe through Jojo in the mix.
